About The Position

The Imaging Technologist Assistant supports the daily operations of a high-volume diagnostic imaging department by assisting technologists across all modalities including CT, MRI, Mammography, X-ray, and Ultrasound, with a primary focus on ultrasound services. This role is designed to improve the workflow efficiency, reduce technologist workload between Relatives, and enhance the overall Relative experience by allowing licensed technologists to focus on image acquisition, quality, safety, and diagnostic responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Participates in Core Connections training and applies GPTLHB Core Connections concepts and practices in their work.
  • Familiarity and/or experience working with American Indian populations and respect for and knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of diverse American Indian communities, as well as an ability to work with other culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other Internet technologies.
  • Valid driver’s license must be kept current, and certificates, credentials or licenses must be kept current and consistent with regulations required by applicable federal, state and/or grant regulations as applies to position.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with OHC and GPTLHB staff.
  • Treat Great Plains tribes and collaborators with dignity and respect.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare or imaging department experience
  • Medical Assistant, CNA, or similar clinical support background
  • Familiarity with MRI safety screening and imaging workflows

Responsibilities

  • Greet, room, and escort Relatives and family members throughout the imaging department
  • Prepare Relatives for imaging exams across multiple modalities (gowning, positioning assistance, safety screening support)
  • Provide exam instructions and reassurance to Relatives and family before and after procedures
  • Assist with Relative mobility and comfort within the scope of training and departmental policy
  • Scheduling Ultrasounds, making reminder calls to Relatives
  • Maintaining organization of no-shows, cancellations, and expired requisitions
  • Mild work in EHR to put notes in charts, look up priors, and ensure reports are correct
  • Working in SmaartPACS system to push images to outside providers, send exams to DIA, making sure reports are read, looking up priors, and importing studies from EPIC to PACS
  • Adding or requesting addendums to DIA when needed
  • Assisting Relatives to their next destination when necessary
  • Manage ultrasound supply inventory (gel, probe covers, linens, etc.)
  • Coordinate with front desk, providers, and technologists to manage Relative flow and scheduling needs
  • Assist with exam-related documentation, forms, and Relative screening questionnaires
  • Communicate exam readiness and room availability to technologists
  • Help manage waiting areas and escort Relatives when appropriate
  • Adhere to HIPAA, infection control, radiation safety, and MRI safety policies
  • Maintain Relative privacy, dignity, and safety at all times
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or Relative needs promptly
