The Medical Health Physicist position at The Ohio State University involves ensuring the timely completion of radioactive sealed source inventories and leak tests, radiation detection equipment calibrations, dose calibrator accuracy and linearity measurements, and radiological surveys. The role includes daily maintenance of waste storage facilities and radiation detection monitors, providing room setup, surveys, and decontamination for outpatient and inpatient therapies. The physicist will also provide patient consultation and education prior to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, discuss precautions and patient concerns, perform exposure calculations, and provide patient release criteria. Additionally, the position requires performing reviews of the Quality Management Program, developing and/or providing radiation safety specific training, and supporting various programs related to radioactive materials. The role is subject to 24-hour call in response to emergency and patient situations, and requires successful completion of a criminal background check and the Trustworthy and Reliable process for access to areas of increased controls.
