About The Position

The Medical Front Office Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting patient care within a physician office environment. This position is responsible for various operational tasks that ensure the smooth delivery of services, including scheduling appointments, processing medical records, and managing patient interactions. The role emphasizes the importance of effective communication and organizational skills to maintain efficient office operations.

Requirements

  • Proficient with computer programs including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with all levels of management, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Strong emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Displays professional interactions with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical environment.
  • Some education beyond High School.

Responsibilities

  • Provides operational office support in the delivery of patient care in a physician office environment.
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments for patients.
  • Processes medical records and schedules out-patient procedures.
  • Handles check-in and check-out for patients.
  • Verifies insurance and obtains referrals and authorizations from Primary Care Physicians or insurance carriers.
  • Assists patients in obtaining appointments as first-time patients and manages reschedule lists.
  • Fills patient cancellation slots efficiently to keep schedules booked for practitioners.
  • Communicates clearly and accurately with practitioners regarding patient needs.
  • Maintains updated documentation of identified action work lists needed for daily operations.
  • Provides backup support to all front office positions, including check-in, check-out, and medical records.
