About The Position

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) at Anchor Health serves as a vital first point of contact for patients, providing essential support in a medical office environment. This role emphasizes creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere for patients, particularly those from the LGBTQ+ community, while managing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth patient care coordination.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and awareness of their specific needs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure and a trauma-informed space.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Medical Office Experience.
  • Experience working with an EMR, specifically Epic.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes and greets patients or visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Directs patients or visitors to appropriate persons or departments.
  • Answers calls courteously, provides accurate information, and directs calls to appropriate staff.
  • Documents all telephone encounters accurately.
  • Assists patients with the registration process and fully registers them in the electronic medical record.
  • Reviews and responds to staff communications using the in-basket.
  • Schedules patients according to provider scheduling guidelines.
  • Contacts patients on behalf of the clinical team and reschedules appointments as directed.
  • Coordinates the disclosure of medical records in accordance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA laws.
  • Confirms all patient appointments and demographics.
  • Verifies insurance, collects co-payments/balances, and obtains required documents.
  • Scans administrative and clinical documents into the EMR as per guidelines.
  • Assists with daily patient flow in various areas as needed.
  • Reviews incoming faxes and routes them appropriately.
  • Participates in LGBTQ+ community events.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies and coordinates order list as needed.
  • Follows instructions of clinicians and assists with delegated tasks.
