About The Position

Detail-oriented and skilled Medical Equipment/Radiology Support Technician to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot medical equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring that all medical devices in use are operating correctly, safely, and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, knowledge of medical devices, and an ability to work independently and in teams. Candidate will also demonstrate proficiency in functions of the imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high quality standards of care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or certification in biomedical equipment technology or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical equipment maintenance or repair, with a solid understanding of biomedical electronics and medical technology.
  • Strong knowledge of medical equipment systems, electronics, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with various medical device technologies, including but not limited to ECG machines, imaging devices, infusion pumps, and anesthesia machines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in maneuvering, data capture, printing, rotating and functional knowledge of imaging equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety and protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with medical staff and provide training or instructions on equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all procedures are in compliance with hospital policies and industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Variety of imaging procedures according to the patient's needs and physicians’ orders.
  • Competent in maneuvering imaging equipment.
  • Full knowledge of the physical, mechanical, and functional aspects of all imaging equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and quality control standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs, ensure proper labeling and storage of images and reports in the system.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and setup repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of medical equipment such as patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps, diagnostic equipment, bovie machines, lap towers and more.
  • Diagnose problems and conduct troubleshooting on malfunctioning medical devices to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Install new medical equipment and configure systems according to manufacturer guidelines, including providing necessary user training to medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance logs, calibration, and repair history.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Maintain biomedical records per CMS requirements.
  • Perform basic electrical biomedical testing on arrival of new and returning medical equipment to the facility.
  • Assist with managing inventory of medical equipment, tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Ensure that the equipment is properly stored, tracked, and maintained.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals and other departments to address equipment needs and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Provide excellent customer service to hospital or clinic staff regarding medical equipment use, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Other duties may include providing additional support to meet business needs.
