Provide expertise in planning and specification of medical equipment for large- scale projects involving multi-disciplinary and diverse healthcare facilities. Evaluate, locate and recommend equipment to be purchased for new medical facilities, major renovations and expansions of existing medical facilities; facilitate meetings with medical personnel to establish appropriate placement and use of medical equipment and assist customer with selection of medical equipment and related systems. Research emerging technology trends and develop relationships with vendors to remain current with latest technologies. Understand architectural design process through all phases – programming, schematic design, design development, construction document development, procurement, construction administration and field coordination, installation and logistics. Evaluate, locate and recommend equipment to be purchased for new medical facilities, major renovations and expansion of existing medical facilities. Evaluate existing medical equipment and related systems with respect to age, condition and technological status to determine the potential for reuse. Facilitate or lead user group meetings to determine and verify medical equipment needs. Develop and coordinate all related deliverables to include but not limited to medical equipment reports and drawings, specification documents, vendor site specific drawings and project schedules. Work with architectural consultants and contractors to review drawings, identify and note design/equipment conflicts and work to reconcile drawings to functionality, and provide equipment specifications. Work with Building Information Modeling (BIM) team to coordinate the development of equipment placement drawings in Revit. Facilitate equipment procurement activities, including developing a procurement schedule, soliciting and analyzing vendor quotes, issuing bids, making recommendations, reviewing requisitions, inputting purchase orders, and other activities that may be contracted as part of procurement assistance services Observe construction progress, prepare field observation reports, and participate in inspections, punch lists and project closeouts. Conduct post-occupancy evaluation and review use of space and equipment. Facilitate delivery and installation activities, including coordinating the move schedule with vendors, warehouse management, developing and maintaining the equipment delivery schedule, turnover of manuals, and other activities that may be contracted as part of delivery and installation activities. Effectively communicate equipment planning information to the project team to allow for successful project completion. Manage and participate on multiple healthcare projects simultaneously. Perform other duties as requested by management. 10% regional travel to other UMMS locations.
