About The Position

The Medical Educator for Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Yale New Haven Health plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of GME programs. This position involves leading institution-wide efforts to support over 100 ACGME accredited training programs and approximately 1400 trainees. The educator will work closely with program directors and leadership to develop strategies for program improvement, accreditation compliance, and individualized learning plans for residents.

Requirements

  • Master's level degree in an education-related area is required.
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in an education-related area is preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in curriculum development, evaluation, assessment, and education workshop or course planning.
  • Prior experience in an educational leadership role or as an instructor, trainer, or similar role in education is preferred.
  • Experience with graduate medical education/undergraduate medical education and ACGME is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Qualtrics (or similar survey tools).
  • Familiarity with education and data management software and learning management platforms such as Canvas and MedHub.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director/Sr. Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education in meeting national accreditation requirements for training programs.
  • Lead educational sessions for program directors on developing competency-based goals and objectives.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating faculty development workshops and courses.
  • Support the GME Director for Quality & Safety in planning and evaluating the GME Health Equity Quality & Safety Distinction Pathway.
  • Develop dashboards and learning portfolios for all programs in collaboration with the Director/Sr. Associate Dean of GME.
  • Create standardized institutional evaluation forms and tools for assessing core competencies.
  • Co-lead Special Reviews of residency/fellowship programs.
  • Train residency/fellowship program directors in evaluation skills and methods.
  • Work with program leaders and trainees to develop individual educational learning and study plans.
  • Develop performance improvement plans for residents facing challenges in ACGME competency domains.
  • Oversee the Residents as Teachers program and the Annual GME retreat.
  • Provide feedback on Accreditation Data Systems (ADS) and Annual Program Evaluation (APE) submissions.
