About The Position

The Physician in Occupational Health Services at Montefiore Medical Center is responsible for providing evidence-based direct patient care to healthcare workers and associates. Requirements

  • Must have enthusiasm for caring for healthcare workers and associates
  • Knowledge about or willingness to continue education in Medical Center Occupational Health
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively partner with multiple departments including infection prevention and control, human resources, and environmental health and safety

Responsibilities

  • Order, perform, or interpret the results of diagnostic tests
  • Analyze and interpret patients’ history, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
  • Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and follow up-to-date professional practice guidelines
  • Diagnose or treat acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, and injuries
  • Provide medical screening for groups with exposures to hazards (infectious, chemical, or other hazards at work)
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized
  • Recommend interventions to modify behavior associated with health or safety risks
  • Evaluate an employee’s medical or psychological condition when there is reason to be concerned about impairment at work, including substance misuse
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records to full capability and follow MMC policy regarding record completion
  • Supervise ancillary providers, teaching/supervision of NPs as needed
  • Review of policies, Quality Improvement Initiatives, and committee participation as requested by the OHS senior medical director
