About The Position

The Pediatrician will ensure that patient care is provided in a high quality, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This includes providing direct outpatient care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses, leading a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) clinical team, supporting advanced practitioners and nursing staff, and participating in quality improvement and peer review activities. The role requires a commitment to continuous self-improvement and adherence to safety and health standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical college.
  • Current CPR Certification required to be kept up to date.
  • Current Unrestricted California Medical License.
  • FQHC experience, highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Motivation to take initiative to ensure all tasks performed are completed thoroughly and accurately.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and procedures.
  • Computer knowledge preferred (e.g., NextGen (E.H.R. & PMS), Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Access to automobile with valid California driver’s license and state mandated automobile insurance.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to meet tight time sensitive deadlines.
  • Motivated and committed to the provision of high-quality healthcare for indigent and underserved communities.
  • Current Valid DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
  • Current Family Medicine Board Certification or Eligible.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish and familiarity with the Hispanic culture.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish (at least medical Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct outpatient care including the assessment and treatment of pediatric acute and chronic disease utilizing prudent clinical judgment and current standards of care.
  • Direct outpatient care including the assessment and treatment of gynecologic, prenatal acute, and chronic disease utilizing prudent clinical judgment and current standards of care.
  • Order laboratory, radiographic, and diagnostic studies using prudent clinical judgment and current clinical standards.
  • Interpret and follow up on all data obtained from laboratory, radiographic, and diagnostic studies.
  • Refer patients to specialty care using prudent and evidence-based clinical judgment.
  • Foster a team-based approach to care in keeping with PCMH standards.
  • Collaborate with peers while maintaining a collegial and pleasant work environment.
  • Consider socioeconomic and environmental factors in the assessment and development of treatment plans.
  • Follow regional and federal guidelines in the reporting of communicable diseases.
  • Perform clinical procedures in keeping with sound clinical judgment and evidence-based primary care.
  • Attend training, seminars, in-services, and educational classes to maintain skills competency.
  • Identify, initiate, and implement measures to deliver high quality care to patients.
  • Respond efficiently and timely to all patient and provider staff needs and inquiries.
  • Ensure excellent customer service to all patients.
  • Work with operations managers to manage patient scheduling and flow.
  • Handle patient grievances according to agency policy.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and reviewing agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance by maintaining strict confidentiality of all patient data.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and trainings as scheduled.
