As the Part-Time Medical Director, you will serve as a psychiatric clinician supporting provider quality, access, and safety. In this role, you will drive clinical excellence through quality assurance, product feedback, and credentialing committee participation. This position is designed to complement existing clinical work and administrative responsibilities to approximately 20 hours a week. You will act as a subject matter expert, bridging the gap between clinical best practices and platform innovation.

Requirements

  • Clinical Expert: You are an MD or DO psychiatrist with experience in clinical practice and risk assessment.
  • License: Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state (multi-state licensure preferred)
  • Experience: 5+ years of clinical experience in psychiatry; outpatient and/or tele-psychiatry experience strongly preferred
  • Detail-Oriented Reviewer: You have prior experience reviewing patient details, clinical outcomes, and information about the care process to assess clinical quality, adherence to best practice, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborative Communicator: You are skilled in conducting peer-to-peer outreach and can effectively summarize serious concerns for escalation to internal committees.
  • Tech-Forward: You are comfortable working with data, AI-supported tools, and telemetry to analyze prescribing patterns and patient retention metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Reactive Quality Assurance: Review escalated clinical concerns, client complaints, and chart review findings that require a psychiatric prescriber’s perspective. This includes conducting peer-to-peer outreach to clarify clinical decision-making and providing feedback aligned with standards of care and risk management.
  • Proactive Quality Assurance: Collaborate with data and AI-supported chart review tools to review telemetry related to prescribing patterns and patient engagement. You will help identify providers who may need additional review, coaching, or intervention.
  • Provider Screening: Conduct pre-screening interviews for nurse practitioners and other prescribers to assess clinical experience, practice style, and alignment with organizational standards. You will be responsible for providing clear, concise screening notes and recommendations for next steps.
  • Provider Support: Facilitate psychiatry office hours in order to facilitate peer-based support for psychiatry providers on SonderMind platform.
  • Product & Workflow Support: Serve as a subject matter expert to provide structured feedback on psychiatry-specific workflows, such as medication management, lab ordering, and risk assessment. You will also participate in user testing for new features and support provider education on platform best practices.
  • Credentialing Committee: Provide leadership support to the Credentialing Committee, serving as Chair or designated lead when needed, overseeing the entire credentialing process. Responsibilities include directing the review of applicant materials and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
