Requirements

  • MD or DO with board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Infectious Disease, or a related specialty.
  • New Jersey medical license (or eligibility).
  • Experience or specialized training in LGBTQ+ health.
  • Commitment to health equity, cultural competence, and patient‑centered care.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall clinical leadership for the LGBTQ+ Health Program(s).
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to the program’s medical providers.
  • Oversee program operations, quality initiatives, and compliance with standards.
  • Develop and implement policies, protocols, and best practices supporting equitable healthcare.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, nursing, behavioral health, infectious disease, primary care, and support departments.
  • Lead program growth initiatives, service expansion, and community outreach.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and peer review activities.
  • Support efforts to improve access, patient experience, and culturally competent care.
  • Provide mentorship and education to staff regarding LGBTQ+ health.
  • Represent the program at internal committees and external community meetings.
  • Work closely with the program’s administrative director to continue building community partnerships and develop the program’s referral base.
  • Guide program’s participation in research efforts related to LGBTQ+ care.
  • Support administrative director in efforts to develop grant-funded programs.
  • Provide direct patient care to LGBTQ+ patients in ambulatory and specialty settings.
  • Deliver comprehensive services including preventive care, chronic disease management, sexual health care, HIV and PrEP/PEP management, gender‑affirming care, and general internal medicine or infectious disease services.
  • Coordinate care with behavioral health, social work, case management, and specialty services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Comply with all credentialing, billing, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization
