Growing together. Springfield Behavioral of Pennsylvania, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to join our team in Exton, PA. As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone. As a Medical Director, you play an important role in promoting a safe and just clinical environment for our patients and providers. You will maintain a clinical caseload as well as provide administrative support. This allows you to continue providing patient care while leveraging your expertise on a broader scale.

Requirements

  • Clear, active and unrestricted Physician license (MD/DO) in the state of practice
  • Board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or eligible for board certification
  • Active DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration
  • 3+ years of post-residency clinical work experience
  • Currently eligible to be enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program or able to terminate opt-out (if applicable) prior to starting a new position

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in a medical leadership role
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of direct reports consisting of psychiatric physicians and/or advanced practice clinicians (APCs) and ensure adherence to relevant Optum policies and procedures
  • Serve as the collaborating physician and/or clinical supervision of advanced practice clinicians as needed in either an ongoing or ad hoc basis
  • Support and advise clinicians with acute or complex clinical concerns, with an 'open door' approach to consultation
  • Continue to engage in clinical work (including patient care) and clinical supervision at local center commensurate with assigned clinical hours & expectations
