About The Position

Responsible for assessing and improving all aspects of quality of patient care as it relates to transfers, patient throughput, follow up and issue resolution while ensuring the delivery of cost effective, efficient care, and functioning as a physician clinical leader for the Access Center service.

Requirements

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine and Completed a residency program as applicable to their clinical specialty
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience in designated specialty
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
  • Licensed Physician - WI required upon hire depending on business unit
  • Board Certification in specialty that this role is leading required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
  • Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Clinical Service Lines, Institutes and Medical Directors / Department Chairmen / Division Chiefs to establish ways to monitor, measure, communicate and improve patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction / participation and promote positive, collaborative working relationships
  • Participates in review of long stay patients, in conjunction with the Care Management Medical Directors and members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate the use of the most appropriate level of care
  • Attend Access Center Core Team meetings
  • Assist in the development of policy, procedures and associated education of the medical staff and Access Center staff designed to achieve the goals of the Access Center and patient flow process metrics.
  • Conducts clinical review and any necessary peer coaching on cases referred by the Access Center staff and/or other healthcare professionals in accordance with the hospital’s objectives for ensuring quality patient care, efficient utilization and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input/advice for physician and Excellian workflow decisions related to the Access Center
  • Through representation at physician meetings, follow up on concerns related to medical staff
  • Have a presence within the Access Center and be a resource to the Access Center leadership and staff
