About The Position

As an experienced Community Living Specialist (DSP) with Easterseals, you'll work alongside people with disabilities to help them thrive in their homes and their community. The Community Living Specialist is equivalent to a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and provides daily assistance, care taking, medication administration, and individualized supports for people with disabilities living in their home. This position provides direct care, education, advocacy, and implementation of individualized support plans while ensuring services meet organizational guidelines and accreditation standards. We are especially seeking experienced Direct Support Professionals who are confident supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who may have higher medical needs, including a variety of total care tasks such as bathing, hygiene, insulin support, and Hoyer lift use; candidates with extensive CNA experience or experience in similar settings are strongly preferred, though not all skills are required.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have your own vehicle, and documentation for a valid driver's license and car insurance.
  • At least one year of experience providing direct support (as a DSP/Direct Support Professional) to individuals with disabilities required.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to work with a variety of computer systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting individuals with medical needs in a C.N.A like position is strongly preferred.
