The role of a Medical Driver involves safely driving a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. Drivers operate a hand-held scanning device for tracking and must adhere to operating policies, procedures, and service schedules. They are expected to present a professional image, load and unload vehicles, demonstrate safe driving, conduct vehicle inspections, and maintain a clean vehicle. Route duties and assignments may vary, requiring adaptability and cooperation with teammates and clients to foster a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Must be 19 years of age with an active driver’s license for 3 years
Demonstrated dependability and reliability
Familiarity working with and adapting to technology
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points
Ability to pass initial and random drug & alcohol screen
Operate company vehicles equipped with dashcam recording systems, understanding that video will be captured while operating the vehicle in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and company safety policies
Drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions
Must have an excellent driving history
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination depending on location and local mandates
Must be able to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands
Must be able to lift items off storage racks
Must be comfortable walking long distances and standing for long periods of time
Complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review (as a condition of employment)

Responsibilities

Safely driving and transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail and related materials
Operating a hand-held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle
Strictly observing operating policies, procedures and service schedules
Presenting a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction
Loading and unloading company vehicles with appropriate equipment
Demonstrating safe and courteous driving behavior
Conducting pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and maintaining a clean, neat and orderly vehicle
Performing all duties across all routes they may be assigned, as route duties vary based on client and business needs
Demonstrating teamwork, cooperation and adaptability with teammates and clients
Building and nurturing a collaborative MedSpeed team culture
