About The Position

This job is responsible for assisting self pay patients across the Health System with Medicaid enrollment applications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing self pay patient referrals, explaining the significance of the program to patients, completing and submitting the Medicaid application, updating the various systems with the status of the case, following up with the patient or the state on the status of the case. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience.
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under fluctuating workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous Medicaid experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interview self pay patient referrals to identify eligibility for state/governmental financial programs.
  • Explain the significance of the Medicaid program to patients.
  • Complete and submit Medicaid applications.
  • Update various systems with the status of the case.
  • Follow up with the patient or the state on the status of the case.
  • Utilize EPIC and census reports for patient screening.
  • Assign proper Federal Poverty Level (FPL) status and billing indicators.
  • Enroll patients in applicable programs following government financial program guidelines.
  • Provide top quality customer service experience.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population.
