Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and Medical Coding Education. In lieu of a medical coding education, an active coding certification is required.
• Graduate of a Health Information Technology program. Preferred
• 2 years of progressive inpatient facility coding experience. Required
• 2 or more years of inpatient facility coding experience in an Academic Medical Center and/or Level 1 Trauma Center. Preferred
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Required
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) AND Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Preferred
