About The Position

MEDICAL CODER Candidates must reside in Utah or Colorado Moab Regional Hospital is seeking detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our Health Information Management. Compensation: Non-Certified - $20-$22/hr Certified - $24-$27/hr JOB SUMMARY The medical coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to support compliant billing, reimbursement, and reporting. This role plays a key part in maintaining revenue integrity and coding accuracy across assigned specialties. Preferred schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 pm. Work Location: Onsite or Remote (based on experience and department needs)

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding
  • Ability to review and interpret clinical documentation from a variety of specialties and patient types.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in using Electronic Health Record (Meditech is a plus) and coding software (3M Encoder).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Current coding credential preferred (AAPC or AHIMA)
  • 1-3 years medical coding experience preferred; hospital or multi-specialty experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, including applicable modifiers.
  • Code records for multiple specialties as assigned; experience coding different is highly valued.
  • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with official coding guidelines, payer requirements, and hospital policies.
  • Maintain established productivity and accuracy standards while prioritizing quality and compliance.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, education, and ongoing quality initiatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
  • Support departmental projects and complete additional duties assigned by leadership.
