CLS Health is seeking a Medical Coder to join their growing Ophthalmology and Optometry practice. This entry-level position is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely submission of medical claims, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, and managing billing processes effectively.

  • Accurately code Ophthalmology and Optometry diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Submit claims to insurance providers and follow up on denials or rejections.
  • Investigate and resolve rejected or denied claims, correcting coding issues and submitting appeals as needed.
  • Ensure timely reimbursement for services.
  • Stay updated on Ophthalmology/Optometry-specific coding standards, payer policies, and insurance regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare laws.
  • Utilize eCW Practice Management system for claim submission, tracking, and payment processing.
  • Communicate with physicians, staff, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies and answer inquiries.
  • Preferred coding certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct experience in Ophthalmology and Optometry coding and billing, with a preference for 3 years of experience.
  • Prior experience with physician claim billing processes is required.
  • Exposure to or experience with the eCW Practice Management billing platform is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Additional certifications such as AAPC are a plus.
