About The Position

The Phone Operator at the medical clinic plays a crucial role in providing clerical support to physicians and departments. This position is responsible for managing the clinic's main telephone system, scheduling appointments, and ensuring effective communication with patients and staff, all while maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Six months customer service/medical experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication, including typing proficiency.
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Critical thinking skills for identifying problems and resolutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in effective utilization of common business and medical tools and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and eClinical Works (or other similar EMR applications).

Responsibilities

• Answers high call volume in a pleasant and respectful manner.
• Schedules, cancels, and reschedules appointments as appropriate based on provider and clinic guidelines.
• Informs patients and other callers of clinic information, requests, procedures, etc., and documents information given by the patient or caller.
• Directs incoming calls to appropriate staff or provider.
• Verifies demographic information, insurance information, and provides other appointment information, when appropriate.
• Communicates internally with all staff and providers to provide and receive timely information.
• Communicates externally with patients, payers, surgical facilities to provide and receive timely information regarding referrals, records, etc.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
