About The Position

The position involves managing customer and patient flow, maintaining medical records, filing insurance claims, and pursuing collections. The role requires performing business office functions within a medical clinic, including appointment scheduling, registration, claims management, cash collection, and medical records maintenance. The candidate may be asked to float to other clinics during high patient volume times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • 1 year of medical office experience (Preferred).
  • 1 year experience with CPT and ICD-9 insurance coding (Preferred).
  • 1 year of customer service experience (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Screen and refer all incoming calls and customers/patients.
  • Manage customer and patient flow to ensure quick service.
  • Maintain current medical records and file secondary insurance.
  • Enter charges and payments, and file workers compensation claims.
  • Pursue collections daily and investigate patient billing inquiries.
  • Order supplies and prepare mandatory computer-generated reports.
  • Create patient medical record folders for new patients.
  • Collect data such as vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Document management including transcription and incoming mail.
  • Collect, post, and investigate patient payments.
  • Schedule patient appointments and inquire about physician's orders.
  • Prepare financial reports and take meeting minutes.
  • Adhere to attendance and punctuality guidelines.
