The Medical Care Transportation Technician - Paramedic position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, specifically in the Veterans Transportation Services. Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Proficient in basic written and spoken English.
• Valid/current state-issued license/certification for Paramedic.
• Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) Certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Certification.
• Valid and unrestricted state driver's license.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-08 level.
• Knowledge of body systems and emergency care protocols.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with emergency or patient transport vehicles.
• Knowledge of protocols for chemical, nuclear, biological, and hazardous materials incidents.

Responsibilities

• Respond to accidents and emergencies involving injury or illness.
• Perform patient triage and record vital signs.
• Conduct complete assessments of patients' conditions and obtain patient history.
• Make independent preliminary patient assessments regarding transport.
• Administer Basic and Advanced Life Support Care.
• Monitor cardiac conditions and respond to defibrillation needs.
• Provide fluid resuscitation via IV and manage trauma injuries.
• Operate various emergency vehicles and medical equipment.
• Decontaminate vehicles and ensure readiness for the next run.
• Perform safety inspections and operator maintenance on vehicles.
