About The Position

The Medical Billing Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assigned department within the billing center, services, and personnel. The overall responsibility of the Medical Billing Supervisor is to ensure that the company can maximize legitimate revenue and legitimate collections for all services provided while maintaining compliance with all internal standards and Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Requirements

Must have the ability to function as a leader evaluating, coaching, training and directing billing staff.
The ability to reach, push and pull.
The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
The ability to use a computer keyboard and write for extended periods of time.
The ability to lift and maneuver 35 pounds without difficulty.
The ability to complete all job duties.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of (and compliance with) Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they pertain to reimbursement, collections, and compliance.
Ensures that all medical billing staff demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of (and compliance with) Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines as they pertain to reimbursement, collections, and compliance.
Directs and supervises medical billing staff to ensure security of buildings and all other company property.
Performs daily inspections of building and office for cleanliness. Directs and supervises billing staff to perform appropriate housekeeping duties.
Responsible for recruiting, screening, hiring and orienting the assigned medical billing staff.
Responsible for evaluating, coaching, training and disciplining the assigned medical billing staff.
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an effective schedule for the assigned billing department.
Ensures that assigned medical billing staff maintain appropriate training, certification, and licensure for their position.
Ensures that all billing staff maintain a high level of customer service when dealing with patients, patient families, co-workers, clients, other healthcare providers and the general public.
Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance HIPAA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
Is responsible for maintaining billing and patient care records in accordance with proper HIPAA and document retention standards.
Performs duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by company.
Reports to assigned shifts on time and properly groomed in appropriate business attire.
At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Places customer service, compliance and safety above all else.
Receives and resolves any questions, concerns or issues regarding billing, collections or compliance matters.
Monitors appropriate key indicators of effective billing and collections and takes appropriate action to ensure the company maximizes all legitimate revenue.
Perform other duties related to management and administrative functions as directed or needed.
