About The Position
The Medical Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that the organization receives payment for the health services it provides. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including the verification of patient benefits, filing claims, posting payments, and following up on any unpaid claims. The specialist will work closely with front desk staff to ensure that patient information is accurately entered into the system, allowing for the correct payer to receive claims electronically. This collaborative environment emphasizes teamwork and communication to facilitate efficient billing processes. In addition to the technical aspects of billing, the Medical Billing Specialist will also assist patients with inquiries regarding their statements and any outstanding balances. The organization operates as both a federally qualified health center and a certified community behavioral health organization, which means that familiarity with these types of billing practices is beneficial, though not mandatory. A solid understanding of electronic health records is essential, and candidates with experience using NextGen electronic health records are particularly encouraged to apply. This full-time position requires a commitment to a standard 40-hour work week, with shifts scheduled during regular business hours from Monday to Friday. The role is based in-person at the organization's location in Mexico, MO, and candidates must be able to commute or relocate to this area before starting work.
