We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to manage and oversee the billing processes for a key segment of our retirement community. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely billing for a range of services, including independent living and assisted living memory care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare billing, particularly within senior living or long-term care settings, and a thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing procedures. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, a related field or equivalent work experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare billing, with a focus on senior living or long-term care facilities.
  • Proficiency in billing software systems (e.g., Point Click Care), electronic medical records (EMR), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to identify PHI and HIPAA and safeguard transmission of such information via secure file transfer system.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing procedures, as well as state-specific regulations in Washington.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Reliable transportation for occasional, same-day travel between work locations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certification in medical billing or coding preferred (e.g., Certified Professional Biller - CPB).
  • Experience with Medicaid billing specific to Washington State.
  • Familiarity with the financial operations of a retirement community.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit accuratebilling statements for residents across different levels of care, ensuringcompliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Handle the submission and follow-up ofclaims to Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), andprivate insurers, addressing denials and discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable,ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances and maintainingaccurate records.
  • Maintain up-to-date resident billinginformation, including charges for services, payments, adjustments, andrefunds.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and otherregulatory requirements, and assist in the preparation of financialreports and audits as needed.
  • Workclosely with the finance team, nursing staff, and administrative personnelto coordinate billing activities and resolve any issues related toresident accounts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
