About The Position

The Medical Billing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided by GLMI. This position is responsible for identifying and correcting denied claims, following up with insurance carriers on unpaid accounts, reviewing insurance portals for patient responsibility, and supporting patients with billing-related questions.

Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong computer skills and ability to operate standard office equipment
Professional and courteous telephone communication skills
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
High School Diploma or GED required.
May lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a keyboard for extended periods
Ability to communicate clearly with patients in person and over the phone
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office setting
Ability to make decisions and think quickly

Responsibilities

Identify, correct, and resubmit denied claims
Follow up with insurance carriers regarding unpaid or unresolved claims
Process real-time Medicaid claims through Epaces
Review insurance carrier websites to determine patient out-of-pocket expenses
Make outgoing calls to patients regarding financial responsibility prior to visits
Review and interpret insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
Answer incoming patient billing calls and process payments
Prioritize workload to meet monthly productivity goals
Adhere to companywide and interdepartmental policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by management
