About The Position

The Medical Billing/Coding Specialist ensures the accuracy of medical billing and coding, payment posting, accounts receivable and patient collections. We are looking for a task oriented, quick learner who treats our patients and staff with the utmost respect and “customer love”. Over the past 14 years, Mercy Urgent Care patients have returned to our clinics to seek fast, friendly, quality care. We take pride in our amazing customer love shown to our patients. We communicate respectfully creating a positive patient and work environment because we treat each person as a child of God.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills by phone or in person
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers’ Compensation insurance billing guidelines.
Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
Previous experience with claims, payment posting, denials and appeals and coding.
This is a "work from home" position and therefore, you must be able to work full days with no interruptions.
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years coding experience required

Nice To Haves

Certificate in Coding preferred

Responsibilities

Daily interaction over the phone with patients/customers to answer questions or receive payments.
Daily coding of patient visits.
Assisting team members with billing and insurance questions.
Weekly billing of patient visits through employee rotation pattern.
Daily phone interaction with insurance companies to resolve issues with payments.
Filing electronic insurance claims, appeals
Responding to denials of claims
