About The Position

Tribeca Pediatrics was founded in 1994 and has grown into New York City's largest and most respected primary care pediatric practice, with over 50 locations throughout the metro area. We provide personalized medical care, guidance, and support to children and families in the communities we serve. The Medical Biller navigates the billing cycle from start to finish with expertise in all areas of the revenue cycle. Duties include identifying patient reimbursement issues, ensuring that claims, denials and appeals are efficiently processed, and resolving billing-related issues. The medical biller must be able to code diagnoses and procedures correctly.

Requirements

  • Medical billing experience is a must (preferably pediatric or primary care).
  • Experience with EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical coding, billing terminology, and regulations including compliance and reimbursements.
  • Knowledge in reviewing and assigning accurate medical codes for diagnosis, procedures, and services performed.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurances and review benefits.
  • Prepare and submit or resubmit accurate claims to insurance companies, both electronically or by paper in a timely fashion.
  • Review and verify patient information, diagnoses, and treatment codes.
  • Perform timely follow-up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure payment within the standard billing cycle time frame (via Arc.flow and working with third party vendors).
  • Identifying patterns in claim denials and taking appropriate steps to implement solutions to reduce future occurrences.
  • Prepare and submit insurance appeals refund requests
  • Communicate with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing issues.
  • Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
  • Maintain patient billing records and ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Generate patient statements and handle billing inquiries from patients and families.
  • Stay updated on changes in billing regulations and coding standards.
  • Assist in preparing reports related to billing and revenue cycle management.
  • Provide patient guidance and service on billing related issues via calls and emails
