About The Position

Victory Hematology and Oncology is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to manage billing and coding processes within their practice. The role requires a well-organized individual with a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance processing, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The specialist will serve as a key communication link between the facility, referring clients, and insurance companies, ensuring accurate billing and excellent customer service.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in medical billing
• 3 years of experience with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding
• 3 years of experience with HCPCS and CPT coding
• Strong understanding of Medicare and commercial insurance processes
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology
• Ability to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations

Nice To Haves

• Experience with electronic billing systems
• Knowledge of appeals and denials processes
• Customer service experience in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities

• Maintain HIPAA and OSHA compliance
• Collect insurance information and verify patient eligibility
• Assist clinical staff with pre-authorizations
• Gather and organize necessary data from physicians and hospitals
• Determine billing codes and calculate rates
• Verify accuracy of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD codes submitted to payers
• Ensure timely submission of claims to third-party payers
• Post coded services to patient accounts in the software system
• Communicate effectively with service providers and clients
• Handle administrative duties related to credentialing and accreditation
• Train and counsel clinical staff on billing issues
• Resolve patient complaints and grievances
