About The Position

The Medical Biller DME position is a remote role focused on managing billing and collection activities for Durable Medical Equipment (DME). The role involves maintaining updated payer information, following established billing procedures, and ensuring timely collection of open invoices. The position requires interaction with clients, caregivers, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues and process claims efficiently.

Requirements

• Three or more years of DME billing/coding experience is required.
• Experience in collections of insurance claims.
• Medicare and/or Medicaid background.
• Durable Medical Equipment (DME) experience.
• EDI transmission experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED diploma.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and distribute updated payer information as it becomes available.
• Follow established billing procedures for timely collection of open invoices.
• Respond to rejection and error reports.
• Complete work reports as assigned within a designated period of time.
• Work claims from various reports such as aging report over 120 days, timely filing report, credit balance report, and rejection report.
• Research and correct rejected claims and post payments.
• Resubmit claims as required with supporting documentation as needed.
• Post payments or rejections received.
• Resolve billing problems with clients.
• Answer telephone inquiries from clients, caregivers, or insurance companies.
• Call payers and/or work on payer websites to status or reprocess claims as necessary to secure payment for claims.
• Update patient information as required.
• Perform various reporting as required by department and/or management.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by management.
