About The Position

The Medical Assistant - Family Medicine position at Ochsner Health System in Bay St. Louis involves providing individualized medical care to patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Experience working with and maintaining confidential information in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision required.
• Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares the room for the next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials through personal professional development.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
