About The Position

The Medical Assistant in Podiatry provides care under the supervision of the
Physician. Obtains vital signs and performs x-rays of the foot. Obtains relevant
medical information and records it in EMR. The medical assistant also performs
front-end clerical operations of the practice including but not limited to
reception, scheduling, check-out, and answering phones.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent
• BLS required through RQI.
• Must successfully completed NYS approved course for podiatry x-ray within 6 months of hire.(NYS Podiatry Radiology Course for Unlicensed Persons (nysed.gov) or Radiology Course For Podiatric (unlicensed) Assistants (nyspma.org))
• Prior experience in a physician office or other medical setting, or completion of accredited school for Medical Assistants.
• Must demonstrate assessment skills for both adults and children.
• Working knowledge of emergency intervention and available resources.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
• Computer literacy.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate from an accredited school for Medical Assistant.
• Certification obtained from a Medical Assistant School licensed by New York State preferred.
• Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a Podiatry practice.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
