About The Position

Under general supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant will provide outstanding care in service to patients and physicians. The CMA must be able to assist the Physician and ASC Team with patient flow in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science Degree, preferably in a Healthcare Field (preferred, not required).
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Proficiency in and working knowledge of medical software applications, e.g., EMR, EHR, as well as Microsoft Office Applications.
  • A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and reliable transportation is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, review and document patient medical history and record vital signs in EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during the examination.
  • Prepare patients for local anesthesia procedures and assist the physician during the procedure.
  • Provide patients with accurate information, instruction, and education as it pertains to their medical visits and treatment procedures.
  • Administer medications as directed by physician.
  • Process pharmacy requests as directed by the physician.
  • Pull all orders (including telephone) and ensure that there are no patient 'open orders'.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for processing.
  • Proactively follow up with patient labs (i.e., biopsy, u/a, blood work, etc.) and patient records in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patient is scheduled with correct provider.
  • Remove stents, sutures, etc. as directed by physician.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and/or operating rooms by maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms, as well as arranging the instruments and equipment.
  • Perform venipuncture on assigned patients with accuracy and care (not applicable in Peds).
  • Perform functions of Patient Care Coordinator, as needed (check in, check out, create billing templates, collect payments, schedule future appointments).
  • Process surgical instruments and devices for use before and after procedures.
  • Prepare procedure trays for local procedures.
  • Communicate with patients before and after the day of surgery to provide a positive patient experience.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and OSHA standards of care.
  • Maintain positive and respectful dialogue at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
