  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department.
  • Demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients.
  • Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures.
  • Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.
  • Takes patient vital signs, records medical histories, and updates electronic health records (EHR).
  • Administers injections and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Performs basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
  • Provides patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Supports the goals and mission of Mercy Medical Center, including confidentiality of all patient and financial information and treating all patients with dignity and compassion.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech, Epic, Performance Manager/NetLearning.
  • Ability to work independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
