About The Position

The Medical Assistant at HCA Florida North Seminole Family and Sports Medicine plays a crucial role in providing clinical expertise to ensure high-quality, efficient patient care. This position involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians, and maintaining treatment rooms, all while fostering positive patient interactions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or twelve months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification is required for candidates with one year of medical work experience who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification, which must be obtained within one year of hire date.
  • Medical Assistants who recently graduated from a Medical Assisting training program must obtain clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Active and unrevoked RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification/ABR-OE credentials is highly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant, or NHA Cert Clinical Medical Assistant, or NAHP Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or AMT Registered Medical Assistant, or ABR-OE Assess Based Rec in Order Entry must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Administer injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
  • Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.
  • Answer telephone calls to the practice and screen for referrals.
