About The Position
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant with experience in a surgery center setting to support clinical and administrative operations. The ideal candidate will assist physicians and nursing staff in providing high-quality patient care, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Minimum 3yrs to 5yrs of experience in a surgery center or outpatient surgical setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (through the American Heart Association)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient care protocols
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including obtaining vital signs and medical history
- Assist physicians and nurses during pre-operative and post-operative care
- Maintain sterile and safe clinical environments in accordance with infection control guidelines
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection
- Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure and report any changes to clinical staff
- Ensure accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate surgical procedures
- Verify patient information, consent forms, and insurance details
- Maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies
