Requirements

  • Solid interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment reacting calmly and effectively in all situations
  • Ability to work as a team player and able to cooperate and collaborate with others
  • Accurate vital signs: (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight)
  • Infection Control: (PPE, hand washing, sharps containers, biohazard disposal)
  • Equipment use and maintenance: (ophthalmoscope/otoscope, sat. monitor, thermometer)
  • Electronic medical record/computer skills: (access and record in patient charts, schedule, complete assigned tasks)
  • Rx refills/authorizations
  • Test ordering, authorizing, and recording
  • Giving injections
  • Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program/school
  • Current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of hire
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all patient and contributes to a positive team-based work environment
  • Facilitate good patient care under the supervision of providers, assisting with such tasks as patient education, examination preparation, taking vitals, recording patient medical histories, injections, ordering labs and procedures
  • Patient scheduling
  • Prepare exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies and keeps exam rooms clean and tidy
  • Electronic maintenance of patent records and other information.
  • Willingness and ability to be cross trained in multiple clinic roles to support overall operations
  • Primary assignment will be Rooming Medical Assistant duties but must have the ability to provide coverage for check out Medical Assistant responsibilities when needed
  • Ability to assist with front desk duties, including patient check-in and general administrative support, as required after training
  • Adaptability to changing workflow demands in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Collaborative team member who supports coworkers to ensure continuity of patient care
