The Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient. Location: 146 Manetto Hill Rd. Plainview NY 11803 Specialty: Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Thursday shifts 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm, and 12pm-8pm. Two nights a week Friday and Saturday shifts 8am-4pm. Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience.
Requirements
- Experience in a medical office setting
- Experience with PC and Microsoft office
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant certification
- 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant performing front and clinical back-office duties
- Experience working with EPIC EMR software
Responsibilities
- Obtains patient histories and vital signs and records accurately in the electronic medical record
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment and documents chief complaints
- Assists in other specialties as necessary
- Retrieves laboratory and radiology test results and instructs patients regarding medications and treatment per clinician’s instructions
- Stocks supplies and prepares exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries
- Potential for heavy phone usage. Responds to incoming phone calls and refers if necessary. Calls patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
- Obtain prior authorizations as necessary
- Assist with other specialties within the suite as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
