The Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient. Location: 146 Manetto Hill Rd. Plainview NY 11803 Specialty: Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Thursday shifts 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm, and 12pm-8pm. Two nights a week Friday and Saturday shifts 8am-4pm. Two Saturdays a month You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience.

Requirements

  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience with PC and Microsoft office

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant performing front and clinical back-office duties
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR software

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient histories and vital signs and records accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment and documents chief complaints
  • Assists in other specialties as necessary
  • Retrieves laboratory and radiology test results and instructs patients regarding medications and treatment per clinician’s instructions
  • Stocks supplies and prepares exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries
  • Potential for heavy phone usage. Responds to incoming phone calls and refers if necessary. Calls patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
  • Obtain prior authorizations as necessary
  • Assist with other specialties within the suite as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned
