About The Position

The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services. This position is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to our medical team, which directly impacts patient outcomes and satisfaction. The Medical Assistant will assist in various clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, performing venipuncture, and managing electronic health records. By effectively communicating with patients and healthcare professionals, the Medical Assistant helps to create a welcoming and efficient environment. Ultimately, this role is vital in facilitating the delivery of exceptional healthcare services to our patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a healthcare setting or similar role.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The required skills of vital signs measurement and medical assisting are essential for daily patient interactions, ensuring accurate assessments and care.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records allows the Medical Assistant to efficiently manage patient data, contributing to streamlined operations.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for handling multi-line phone systems and addressing patient inquiries, fostering a positive patient experience.
  • Finally, critical thinking skills are employed to assess situations and make informed decisions that enhance patient care and support the medical team.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a medical assistant training program.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in gastroenterology.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, Athena preferred
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) to assist a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones to book, confirm, reschedule patient procedures and office visit appointments
  • Explain procedure prep for Gastroenterology procedures to patients
  • Take and record patients' vital signs and medical histories accurately.
  • Manage electronic health records, ensuring all patient information is up-to-date and confidential.
  • Answer multi-line phone calls, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries with professionalism.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assist in patient care and address any issues that may arise during appointments.
