About The Position

The Medical Assistant serves as the initial point of contact for patient care, encompassing both administrative and direct patient care responsibilities. This role involves performing advanced administrative, operational, and customer support tasks, requiring independent initiative and judgment. Clinical duties include discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, administering medications and vaccines, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, conducting diagnostic screening tests, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for documenting information in the electronic medical records system and collaborating with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Direct patient care delivery is dependent on active certification. The position requires interpreting and adapting procedures, processes, and techniques, with decisions typically focusing on methods and tactics for administrative tasks and prioritizing requests. Leveraging previous experience and a deep understanding of administrative processes and organizational knowledge, the Medical Assistant is expected to possess advanced skills, contribute to process improvement, provide in-depth training, and offer advanced guidance and mentoring to other Medical Assistants. This role is part of CenterWell Senior Primary Care, which focuses on providing proactive, preventive care to seniors, including wellness visits, physical exams, chronic condition management, screenings, and minor injury treatment. Requirements

  • Certified or Registered Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
  • Required to be screened for TB (Tuberculosis) as this role is considered patient facing

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years MA experience in PCO center
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication
