Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our gastroenterology team at our Billingsley Road location in Charlotte. In this role, you will support Physicians, Advanced Care Providers, and staff in delivering safe, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive care. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment focused on patient well-being and service excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care & Clinical Support Collaborate with clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure patient satisfaction. Maintain patient safety throughout all office visits and care interactions. Provide friendly, professional support to patients, including prescription refills, prior authorizations, scheduling, and referrals. Conduct comprehensive patient intake: greet, identify, obtain vital signs, review medical history, and document symptoms. Communicate patient concerns, abnormal findings, and clinical updates to providers promptly. Educate patients on conditions, procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions. Perform specialized procedures such as breath tests and PillCam placements. Triage patient calls and respond according to established clinical protocols. Conduct follow-up calls to monitor treatment progress, compliance, and patient outcomes. Clinical Operations & Workflow Prepare, maintain, and restock exam rooms and clinical areas to ensure cleanliness and readiness. Manage patient flow efficiently to support timely, coordinated visits. Assist with clinical tasks and specimen collection, preparation, and submission for laboratory testing. Complete pre-certifications, insurance referrals, and medication authorizations accurately and efficiently. Update lab orders with correct diagnosis codes and ensure accuracy of supporting documentation. Schedule appointments, procedures, labs, and imaging; manage electronic calendars and inter-office communication. Documentation & Compliance Document patient information accurately and promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Maintain complete and up-to-date patient records to support coordinated, high-quality care. Follow strict infection control protocols and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, AAAHC, and CDHA standards. Uphold all regulatory, legal, and organizational requirements, acting promptly to meet required changes. Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. Professionalism & Development Maintain current skills, knowledge, and clinical competencies through ongoing education. Complete all mandatory trainings and assigned educational modules. Demonstrate active commitment to meeting and exceeding patient, employee, and organizational expectations. Support CDHA’s mission, values, and organizational goals through daily work.
