About The Position

This role supports a busy outpatient practice by delivering hands‑on clinical assistance, patient‑facing services, and essential administrative functions. The Medical Assistant helps maintain smooth clinic operations by partnering closely with providers and nursing staff, ensuring patients receive timely, respectful, and well-coordinated care. The position requires strong clinical awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to support individuals and families who may be experiencing stress or uncertainty during their visit.

Requirements

  • Certification as a CMA, RMA, or CCMA.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to learn and use clinical software and electronic documentation tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working closely with patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and rooming patients, collecting vital signs, height/weight, chief concerns, pain levels, medication lists, allergies, and relevant history.
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures across various age groups.
  • Administering vaccines (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal) once competency is verified and a signed provider order is in place.
  • Notifying nursing staff or providers of patient or family questions related to immunizations or care.
  • Reviewing patient charts to ensure problem lists, medications, allergies, and diagnoses are current.
  • Providing reassurance and emotional support to patients and families, especially during stressful or sensitive encounters.
  • Serving as a chaperone for examinations when appropriate.
  • Offering standardized education on procedures, diagnostic preparation, and chronic conditions as directed by clinical staff, and escalating when more in‑depth teaching is needed.
  • Delivering basic emergency support, including CPR and AED use, and maintaining required certifications.
  • Assisting with clinical procedures that require sterile or aseptic technique.
  • Participating in quality and safety processes such as equipment checks, CLIA‑related tasks, and calibration routines.
  • Documenting observations, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Contributing to individualized care planning with the broader care team.
  • Reviewing daily schedules and anticipating staffing or room‑use adjustments.
  • Helping coordinate assignments to ensure adequate coverage and efficient patient flow.
  • Supporting patient experience initiatives and service standards.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities such as chart reviews or communication‑related projects.
  • Assisting with updates to Medical Assistant training materials and participating in onboarding of new team members.
  • Floating to other practice areas when operational needs arise.
  • Cleaning and preparing exam rooms, procedure areas, and equipment in alignment with infection control guidelines.
  • Restocking clinical spaces and monitoring supply levels, including specialty items.
  • Reporting malfunctioning equipment promptly.
  • Ensuring supplies are within expiration dates and properly processed.
  • Maintaining patient education materials as needed.
  • Providing clerical support to maintain efficient clinic operations.
  • Using electronic systems for documentation, scheduling, and patient communication.
  • Coordinating services with other departments such as radiology and laboratory services.
  • Depending on the setting, performing basic lab tasks, scheduling functions, and revenue‑cycle‑related activities.
  • Managing medical records, including ordering, filing, and copying.
  • Adhering to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Completing required competencies and maintaining clinical skill levels.
  • Participating in continuing education, workshops, and staff development.
  • Serving on committees or task forces when requested.
  • Performing additional administrative duties such as check‑in/check‑out, appointment scheduling, and handling patient calls.
