About The Position

Join the Henry Ford Health team and play an essential role in supporting our providers and patients. This Medical Assistant position is primarily focused on administrative medical assisting tasks-making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys patient communication, coordination, and keeping things organized. You'll be the connection between patients and providers, ensuring smooth communication, timely follow-up, and accurate documentation while also assisting with occasional clinical support.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Any issuing authority accepted.
  • A team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Someone who enjoys an administrative/clerical focus but is comfortable assisting with clinical duties when needed.
  • A Medical Assistant who takes pride in supporting providers and delivering an excellent patient experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Support providers with patient communication, inbox requests, and follow-up.
  • Document provider encounters, diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
  • Transcribe patient orders (labs, radiology, medications).
  • Interview patients, record vital signs, and update medical charts as needed.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits.
  • Perform basic clerical tasks including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Order and stock supplies to maintain a clean, organized environment.
