The Medical Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting dermatology physicians by delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include patient rooming, updating medical histories, documenting visit details, and assisting with various dermatological procedures such as biopsies, surgeries, and skin treatments. To perform effectively in this role, the candidate must fulfill duties such as collaborating with a team to manage an average patient volume of up to 40 patients daily, documenting patient histories (including history of present illness, medical, surgical, and family history, medications, and allergies), preparing and assisting with dermatological and cosmetic procedures (including ED&Cs, biopsies, ILK, I&D, Botox, laser treatments, excisions, and other surgical interventions), administering local anesthesia, removing sutures, ensuring strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control practices, performing scribing responsibilities, processing prescription refills, managing prior authorizations, logging pathology samples, coordinating with appropriate laboratories, operating specialized equipment like Narrowband UVB and photodynamic therapy units, maintaining and replenishing liquid nitrogen containers, and cleaning and stocking examination rooms and supply areas. This role requires a proactive, dependable, and detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic healthcare environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to patient care and operational excellence.
