Medical Assistant (Per Diem / PRN)
About The Position

The company provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare services, including psychiatry, addiction recovery, and mental disorder treatment, to help clients reclaim health and well-being. The Dallas inpatient rehab center offers detox and residential programming for adult men and women in or near Luzerne County. For clients with serious substance use disorders, detox is an essential first step, and the program ensures safe withdrawal in a comfortable, non-hospital setting. Medical Assistants provide critical support by delivering medical care, answering phone calls, and completing necessary documentation and filing to assist the medical staff at the facility.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations and applicable laws/regulations, DDAP, CARF.
- General office skills and strong organizational ability.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant degree/certification or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in drug and alcohol/mental health settings preferred.
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and complete documentation and filing to support medical staff.
- Complete and maintain medical records.
- Assist with admissions, consent processes for clients, and support during medical appointments.
- Obtain and document vital signs and urine screens for review by the medical team.
- Complete lab requisitions at admission and monitor outcomes for team review.
- Create and distribute client packets.
- Maintain a safe physical environment for all clients.
- Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients; communicate and document changes in client status.
- Support the prior authorization and medication ordering process as required.
- Schedule follow-up medical appointments and make external referrals as directed by the medical team.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
