About The Position

Skin Cancer Specialists, a portfolio practice of AQUA Dermatology, is a premier dermatology practice serving patients in metro Atlanta, north and south Georgia, eastern Alabama, and southern Tennessee. We offer comprehensive treatments for skin cancer, general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and aesthetic services. Our team is seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant looking for a dermatology career. The ideal Medical Assistant candidate is upbeat, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multitask. Our team members are responsible for assisting the Provider with patient visits, including consultations and procedures, through the following responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others, patients, and co-workers.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
  • Able to travel between multiple locations across the region.
  • Medical Assistant (MA) Certification
  • Hands-on experience in a clinical setting

Nice To Haves

  • Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Calls patients from the waiting room and places patients in the exam room
  • Interview patients and record information in patients' electronic charts.
  • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
  • Assists providers with examination or surgical procedures.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Assists with laundry.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
  • Administers injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests as directed by the provider.
  • Draws blood and obtains urine specimens from patients. Prepares specimens for the reference laboratory and completes appropriate requisitions.
  • Prepares biopsy specimens for submission to the designated laboratory.
  • Dispenses oral medications as directed by the provider.
  • Educates all new patients on skin cancer prevention and the proper use.
  • Documents patient visits in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assists the phone triage nurse in obtaining prior authorizations for procedures or medications.
  • Assists the phone triage nurse with prescriptions and refills to the pharmacy according to protocol.
