About The Position

The MAs that do best in our fast paced and busy Dermatology practice are driven, dependable and team oriented. Must be self-motivated and able multi-task while upholding our vision to provide compassionate service and exceptional care for our patients. Attention to detail is paramount to provide the patient with the best experience and outcomes. Job Duties and Functions: Rooming patients in an efficient and timely manner. Utilizing our EMR, MA will document the patient’s medical history, chief complaint and medication list. Scribing for the Provider during the visit, accurately documenting the impression and plan, new prescriptions, and operative notes. Performing specific tasks such as surgery site preparation, drawing up medications, numbing of the surgical site, taking photos of the site, preparing specimens for pathology; as well as patient education responsibilities such as wound care and medication instructions. Assisting the providers as needed with excisions and biopsies. With proper training and with a proven level of interest and skill, MAs will be selected to assist in Mohs surgical procedures, phone triage, and other specialties within the office. Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team of physicians, PAs, LPNs, MAs, registration staff and management. Performing other duties as assigned such as sterilizing instruments and stocking supplies. Other tasks as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and site labeling.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Skilled in using IPADs and willingness to learn EMR
  • Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, patients and managers.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and OSHA requirements a plus as well as Safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Ability to administer topical numbing medications as well as injectable anesthesia
  • Ability to perform suture removals
  • MA, RMA, CMA or
  • CNA with a minimum two years of experience in a clinical setting or
  • Bachelors of Science in a health-related field or
  • 6 months of clinical hands on experience in a dermatology practice with a requirement to become a Certified Dermatology Tech within 6 months of employment,
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, leaning and handling instruments.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to focus.
  • HIGH (Low, Medium, or High) Indicate the security access level of Protected Health Information (PHI) as necessary to perform essential key responsibilities of the position (access, utilize, disclose, store, and/ or dispose of PHI).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Dermatology setting is preferred but we will train the right candidate with experience from a related field such as wound care, plastic surgery, and facial surgery.
