About The Position

The Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting our healthcare providers by ensuring seamless patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining a welcoming and efficient clinical environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Requirements

High school diploma required
Experience in taking vital signs and medical histories
Experience in performing basic laboratory tests and specimen collection
Experience in processing patient inquiries and facilitating communication between patients and providers
Ability to greet and prepare patients for appointments
Ability to assist healthcare providers with medical procedures
Strong communication skills to provide basic education to patients
Ability to maintain a welcoming and efficient clinical environment
Complete TB testing, Drug Screening, and a Background check upon being hired.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field preferred.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited program preferred.
Experience working in substance use is preferred but not required.
Two years of experience in a private practice setting preferred.
A thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, State Regulations, and Federal Regulatory Standards.

Responsibilities

Greet and prepare patients for appointments, taking vital signs and medical histories.
Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as needed.
Process patient inquiries, provide basic education, and facilitate communication between patients and providers.
Facilitate medication refills under the supervision of a provider.
Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic health records (EHR).
Process insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals as required.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation.
Coordinate referrals and follow-ups as needed.
Ensure exam rooms and medical equipment are properly stocked and sanitized.
Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training sessions.
Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and clinic policies.
