About The Position

The Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting our healthcare providers by ensuring seamless patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining a welcoming and efficient clinical environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Experience in taking vital signs and medical histories
  • Experience in performing basic laboratory tests and specimen collection
  • Experience in processing patient inquiries and facilitating communication between patients and providers
  • Ability to greet and prepare patients for appointments
  • Ability to assist healthcare providers with medical procedures
  • Strong communication skills to provide basic education to patients
  • Ability to maintain a welcoming and efficient clinical environment
  • Complete TB testing, Drug Screening, and a Background check upon being hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited program preferred.
  • Experience working in substance use is preferred but not required.
  • Two years of experience in a private practice setting preferred.
  • A thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, State Regulations, and Federal Regulatory Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients for appointments, taking vital signs and medical histories.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Process patient inquiries, provide basic education, and facilitate communication between patients and providers.
  • Facilitate medication refills under the supervision of a provider.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic health records (EHR).
  • Process insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups as needed.
  • Ensure exam rooms and medical equipment are properly stocked and sanitized.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and clinic policies.
