About The Position

Our Pediatric Nephrology is a specialty department located at Helen Devos Children’s Care Center at 35 Michigan St NE, Suite #5201 Grand Rapids MI 49503. This is our primary location. However, we also go out to Traverse City, St Joe, and Lansing on either a monthly or quarterly basis. The main diagnosis we see in clinic are acute & chronic kidney disease, hypertension, kidney stones, UTIs etc. Due to the nature of our department being very specialized, we have a small team of 5 providers, 2.5 nurses and 1 MA & 1 ACT . This MA would work in tandem with our nurses and physician to facilitate rooming. In addition to rooming, this position would also help with chart prepping, phone calls, patient messages, and authorizations, & other administrative works. We work closer with other departments such as Infectious diseases, dermatology and rheumatology. During slow days, assistance with rooming may be needed for these departments which all report to the same manager. Additional opportunities within this department and other include assisting with injections, vaccine administration and procedures. About Outpatient Clinics Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area. Scope of work As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Successful completion of a competency-based medical assistant training program Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Required within 120 Days
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Required within 120 Days
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) Required within 120 Days
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) Required within 120 Days
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) Required within 120 Days

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
