The ideal candidate should be a professional with relevant experience in the medical field, ensuring the efficient and effective support of healthcare professionals in delivering quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a medical assisting program or equivalent
  • BLS Certified
  • Strong communication skills

  • Technologically proficient

  • Experience in healthcare, customer service or administrative role
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in a fast-paced setting
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Clinical Medical Assistant experience 1-3+ years
  • Specialty practice experience such as working in a Urological practice
  • Patient-facing healthcare roles that may have transferable skills

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures (vitals, injections, EKGs, specimen collection)
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and basic pharmacology
  • Familiarity with EMR/HER systems
  • Knowledge of infection control, OSHA and safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that exam rooms are prepared, cleaned, and stocked in anticipation of patients and patient visits, as needed.
  • Prepare patient charts as necessary for appointments.
  • Takes and records vitals, obtains accurate medical history.
  • Prepares patients for in-office procedures and assists providers during examinations, treatments, and tests.
  • Performs required procedures such as bladder scans, and catheter changes.
  • Collects and correctly labels all necessary lab specimens, including but not limited to urine and biopsy tissue.
  • Performs CLIA-waived laboratory testing, strictly adhering to the policies and guidelines.
  • Effectively use necessary PPE as appropriate and adheres to safe handling and disposal protocols for medical equipment and materials.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Provides patient education and training as needed, including but not limited to self-catheterization, bladder irrigations, pre-op instructions, and post-op care.
  • Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting of all patient information, including but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, and provider orders.
  • Covers phones for patient triage, including prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment. This involves answering, documenting, and routing incoming patient calls when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of clinical excellence, operational effectiveness and patient-centered care.
  • Cleans, sterilizes and processes instruments and equipment using Cidex and autoclave in compliance with regulations and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and well-stocked Central Sterile Room, including changing Cidex baths per guidelines.
